We’re a South Florida 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support vulnerable & disadvantaged LGBTQ+ youth on and around the water in the Venice of America.
Our partnership with Our Fund Foundation, a leader in the LGBTQ+ philanthropic community, ensures the funds we raise achieve the greatest impact in the community.
Our first year was spontaneous - a socially distanced, grass-roots Pride boat parade of 20+ private vessels during the COVID lock-down in June 2020.
In our second year we partnered with Pride Fort Lauderdale, and donated $17,134 to Pride Fort Lauderdale’s GED/Scholarship program. FLoatarama-2021 included a Flotilla of 34 registered boats (including the 65’ Water Taxi “Island Discovery” with Grand Marshall Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis and 100 VIPs on board). The Sailor’s T-Dance the following day, with legendary San Francisco DJ Matt Consola and attended by over 500 people, was a great success.
Now in our 3rd year, FLoatarama has grown into a fully-fledged 501(c)3 non-profit, with a strong philanthropic focus, and a clear purpose to support vulnerable and disadvantaged LGBTQ+ Youth, primarily in the areas of Education, Homelessness, and Personal Development.
FLoatarama-2022 is the first event under our own 501(c)3 status, to be held on Saturday 11th June. This year will include our signature Flotilla (with private and commercial vessels) and the Sailor’s Dance & Pool Party at the waterfront Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal/Il Lugano, hosted again by acclaimed San Francisco DJ Matt Consola.
FLoatarama’s philanthropy partner is the Our Fund Foundation, a leader in the LGBTQ+ philanthropic community and the 3rd largest LGBTQ+ foundation in the country. Our Fund grants $1.5M+ annually to worthy non-profit agencies advancing LGBTQ+ causes in South Florida.
Our partnership with Our Fund ensures the funds we raise achieve the greatest impact in the community. Funds raised by FLoatarama will go to the “FLoatarama LGBTQ Youth Fund”, managed by Our Fund and directed by FLoatarama.
